Recreating a Creation

“Designer Baby,” it is a technology where a parent gets to choose the babies features or you can say “customizing the way there children can look like.” In my opinion it is not the right thing to do. It is kind of selfish and rude if you want to pick how your baby looks like.  You’re just abusing what the gift of life you are creating. It doesn’t matter how the child looks like you should love it and always do love it no matter how or what it looks like. That is what a true parent would do. Even if you wish how your babies would look like it is still not the right thing. Just be happy in how it looks and not to think how you want it to look. Having a baby shows that a loving mother and father are ready to have a baby. Picking on how the baby looks like is not the same purpose of having one. If you’re having a baby and before you have it you pick how it looks like, that is not the purpose on having a child, might as well call it a doll.
The pros about having a “designer baby” is that it can reduce of the baby’s chances of being born with many serious diseases like Down Syndrome, Famial hypercholesterolemia, even rare blood disorders such as Diamond Blackfan Anaemia. Also they can also access your embryo so say if a family member is dying the “designer baby” can get the right blood cells to help or even save the life of someone important, that could have Fanconi’s anaemia which is a blood disorder. Another pro just simply wants to create how your baby would look like. Try to make the baby they imagine they would have.

Even though there could be many pros that keep increasing. It is not going to change the way I think on “designer baby.”  There are still cons of having a Designer Baby. A technique called ‘pre-implantation process’ is used to screen the embryos for any genetic diseases and only the disease free embryos are implated into the mother’s womb, but the technique is not limited to screening for genetic and hereditary disorders. Even though you can choose there gender facial features, if there smart, beauty, how tall they are, obesity, freedom from mental illnesses, or even athletic ability, the service is available by the price of each baby is $18,000 which is quite expensive for a average family.
Even though you are able to change the way your baby is there should be at least some genetic resemblance to the parents. Not just a perfectly fine baby all changed up into something they look far from originally. I know in the future there going to think of a lot of messed up ways to change babies like adding more organs or adding extra stuff to the body which we are fine without. But however no matter how the baby was created in appearance, having a baby is God’s gift so it is worth a lot no matter how it looks. Even with the pros it still didn’t change my mind on how I think about “designer babies.” The parents should appreciate in how it was created normally.

  2. I really like reading this post on designer babies. You showed alot of effort in putting as much research and facts about Genetic Engineering.
I strongly agree that this process has many advantages on society such as preventing diseases but do you really think that mankind is ready for that responsibility? All in all, i love reading your opinion on this serious topic. Tremendous Work!
